TFG hosts members of Human Rights and Tobacco Control Network

TFG in conjunction with The National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS)  hosted the 3rd meeting of the HRTCN on 19 March 2012. Delegates of the Human Rights and Tobacco control Network (HRTCN) were in Singapore to attend the 15th World Conference of Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) being held on 20-24 March 2012 at Suntec Singapore Convention Centre. TFG members briefed HRTCN members on tobacco free generation movement concept and received valuable feedback from the world leaders of tobacco control.

Towards Tobacco Free Singapore Movement
Press Conference @ National Cancer Center Singapore 15th March 2012
A news conference was called to kick off Towards Tobacco Free Singapore Initiative. This initiative is aimed at school going children in Singapore, highlighting to them the dangers of tobacco addiction. Given that tobacco companies are creating products and campaigns to entice the young to take up smoking, this campaign is especially critical and timely.
The primary drivers of this initiative are A/Prof Koong Heng Nung from Dept of Surgical Oncology, National Cancer Center ; Prof A.J Berrick of Dept of Mathematics, National University of Singapore and medical students from the 2 medical schools in Singapore, Duke- NUS Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine NUS.
